[Yanagihashi Kabuki] Designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Koriyama City
[Yanagihashi Kabuki] Designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Koriyama City
In the Edo period, Yanagihashi was a tenryō (territory under the direct control of the Tokugawa shogunate), where traditional performing arts were freely enjoyed. It is said that kabuki in this area began when villagers started performing plays and songs as part of the festival at Sugafune Shrine.
This is the only kabuki performance in the prefecture that is entirely presented by local residents, from actors to backstage staff.
For the first time in nine years, you can enjoy the traditional performances of “Shiranami Gonin Otoko” (The Five Shiranami Men), “Yoshitsune Senbonzakura” (Yoshitsune and the Thousand Cherry Trees), and “Shinrei Yaguchi no Watashi” (The Sacred Yaguchi Ferry).
