[Hanitsu Shrine] The guardian deity of Aizu in a world of white.
Hanitsu Shrine is a popular spot for cherry blossoms and autumn leaves, and its white torii gate stands out even against the snowy landscape in winter. There is a largest stone monument in Japan with a height of 7.6m, a weight of 30 tons, and a size of 40 square meters.
The main deity enshrined is Masayuki Hoshina, the first feudal lord of Aizu. He still watches over his descendants along with the loyalists who rest with him.
The hall of worship, which burned down during the Boshin War, was rebuilt in 1880, and still retains its original appearance.
