As the first summer festival of Fukushima this year, the goal of Fukushima Hanabi Taikai has been set to give power and courage to everyone by depicting a “Beautiful Harmony” with a wide variety of fireworks. Hopefully, which will lead all Fukushima people to work altogether for a brighter future. Enjoy the dynamic fireworks of this enchanting show. The highlight would be the world’s largest fireworks, Shakudama (about 120cm/47in), and splendid Starmines. There will also be Engi Hanabi (Message fireworks) to wish for bad luck removing and various fortunes.

Miharu no Sato Natsu Matsuri 2019 [Miharu Town Summer Festival] (Miharu Machi)

Annual Festival, “Miharu no Sato Natsu Matsuri” is to be held at Denen Seikatsu-kan, Miharu no Sato. Special events are scheduled, including: Hand Catching Char, which is very popular among kids, Singing and Dancing Show by the local folks, Japanese Drums Show, Gymnastics Show, Orchestra, Music Live Performance, etc. At food stands, delicious fresh made foods from fried to grilled dishes will be on offer. At the fireworks show at night, a beautiful fireworks view can be seen over Sakura Lake.

Ni-shi Ikka-son ([two cities and one village]: Kitakata City, Aizu Wakamatsu City, Yukawa Village), Nippashi-gawa “Kawa no Saiten” is to be held this year again. This magnificent annual fireworks show will colorfully decorate the summer night sky of Aizu.
At this show, as a highlight event of Kura no Machi, Kitakata Matsuri, there will be a variety of fireworks, such as Message Fireworks, Creative Starmines set off to music, Japan and China Collaboration Fireworks, etc.

Ikada Kudari Taikai [Rafting Competition] (9:30am-4:00pm)
The daytime highlight is Rafting Competition with two categories: Time Trial Racing Section with a handmade raft, and Performance Section with humorous raft decoration and rider costumes. There are also other special events, such as Ice Cream Eating Competition, Hand Catching Char Competition, Bicycle Legs Show Off Competition, Canoeing Experience, etc.

“Hi no Matsuri [fire festival]” was originated from the custom of the locals. After the second day’s events during the three-day Soma Nomaoi Festival, people around the area used to see off the warriors who attended the event and carriers of portable shrines. They lit up with lanterns and torches along their way back home from Hibari-ga-Hara Saijō-chi (horse race field), with a respect and hope that they would go home safely. Now at the festival, 2,000 bonfires are lit around the fireworks shooting area, and 4,000 explosive shells that include Ni-shaku Dama (about 60cm/23in explosive shell) and fireworks with music are launched.

Yume Hanabi is an annual festival that colorfully decorates Koriyama’s summer night sky. Special events are scheduled in the daytime, such as fun Kids Festival and Big Raffle Draw. As the finale of the festival, the fireworks show will entertain you with dynamic Shakudama with a heavy vibration, creative fireworks with music, etc.

At Shirakawa’s Shimin Nōryō Fireworks Show, 5,200 explosive shells will be launched from Shiroyama Park. The brilliant fireworks and Shirakawa Komine Castle beautifully lit up by the explosions can be seen from various places of the town.

Mitama Matsuri Ryūtō Hanabi Taikai [Spirit Festival Lantern Adrift Fireworks Show] (Yanaizu Machi)

When dusk starts to fall, 500 paper lanterns are set adrift, and 4,500 fireworks are set off exploding beautifully in the sky. The world created by the drifting lanterns and the reflecting fireworks on the river is incredibly fantastic.

The Collaboration of Music and 3,000 Fireworks That Colorfully Decorates Inawashiro’s Night Sky!
Inawashiro Hanabi Taikai is an annual festival at which about 3,000 fireworks collaborate with themed music for the event. Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, the theme has been made each year to give hope to children with the fireworks show. There will be food stands and several events including Soreike! Anpanman Show, which would be perfect for families with small kids.

Fireworks show will be held at Koriyama Culture Park. It would be comfortable for families to enjoy the show at the spacious park. Lots of food stands and various stalls would open and it would get bustling. Fireworks are to be launched from in the middle of rice field area, and people in the park can see the beautiful sparks from 360 degrees.

Fukushima’s Oldest Memorial Fireworks Show Held in Asakawa
Asakawa’s fireworks show is an ancestor worship event taken place on AUG 16 every year, which has been held since Edo era, and is said to be the oldest fireworks show in Fukushima prefecture. The highlights are “Dai-karakuri” and “Jirai-bi”. Both are great, but Jirai-bi is extremely dynamic. They are the absolute climax of the show, exploding close to the slope ground of Shiroyama (mountain) that stands high above the town. You should visit and feel the dynamicity directly.

One of the biggest fireworks show in Fukshima prefecture. A wide variety of fireworks will be launched. Highlights include: Shakudama Collaboration by famous pyrotechnists, Creative Fireworks with Music, Niagara Sparklers, Collaboration Display by female pyrotechnists, and Fireworks set off to the songs sung by choral clubs of Sukagawa’s junior high schools. Seats with fees are available for those who want to enjoy the show with less stress from crowds.
